Numerous person, I appreciate pireps from those with knowledge about shops you use (positive or negative) and want to give my experience for the deliberation over others also. After a so-so experience within a recent avionics install, I discovered myself looking for an alternate avenue to the installing of a brand new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The price of one was high i actually busted out laughing over the phone like I were with a comedy bar. He was apparently significantly less amused while i. I was telling the storyline of my local quote to a friend on the airport and he recommended that I call John Stark at Stark Avionics for a quote. In doing my due diligence ahead of calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps for the shop. In doing this, I ran across a totally terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you want to see it). This pirep caused me serious concern about if they should call Stark for a quote.

I posted a broad query for tips about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke regarding his knowledge of Stark i made a decision to give John a phone call based on the two recommendations I from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns concerning the negative pirep on MS it comes with I had been gun shy depending on the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to each and every story and John took his time for you to explain his side in my opinion like me certain he will be prepared to employ someone else who want to call him in that way. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John and that i discussed different equipment options, what can work best with my needs/wants as well as the one-time fee installed price for every option. We ultimately chose to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was in advance that this number might be slightly higher in the event the tray was riveted in (as numerous Mooneys are). I visited manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in an exceedingly timely manner and confirmed the one-time fee price for your equipment and install in writing and we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane ended up being to be delivered the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said although except time ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in case there have been some snags along the way.
